My name is Stephen Mapstone and I am in the business of motivating passion, living, and love. The vehicle by which my motivations are driven is in writing about my observations on the universe around me. It is my goal that in some way my experiences can reach people so deeply that they are inspired to make change within themselves and together we can change the world.
From Pain Comes Passion
I knew at a very early age that I saw the world differently from everyone else around me. My experiences were largely isolated forms of emotional abuse and trauma that stunted my abilities to socially interact with others. Incredibly introverted I learned that I could communicate with the world around me through my writing.
Eventually I would meet several people who would become my closest friends. I learned from them the value of friendship and that the bond of brotherhood isn’t bound by blood. This led to even deeper insights than I could find on my own.
In 2002 as my marriage failed and I held myself accountable for my part in it I began to go through a process of relearning everything I knew about the Self and interaction with others. I read deep into books like “Way of the Peaceful Warrior,” “Siddhartha,” “The Little Prince,” “Jonathan Livingston Seagull,” and “Illusions: Adventures of the Reluctant Messiah.”
It was at this time I also began to explore other religions and spiritual beliefs. Having been raised a Christian I began to question much of what I was taught and read. I sought unity or a unifying theory. With that as my goal I explored Zen, Buddhism, various forms of neo-paganism, Druidism, sorcery, Gnosticism, and others.
Ultimately I observed that the laws of the universe follow a Universal Will. That Will manifests itself as energy – Masculine and Feminine. Those energies further can be affected in ways that are Sacred and Dark. This observation, it turns out, has much in common with various sects of Gnosticism as found in texts like the “Pistis Sophia” and the “Gospel of Mary Magdalene” and with teachings found under Aleister Crowley’s Order of Thelema (Greek for Will).
These realizations have brought me to a greater sense of Love for Mankind and a sense of Duty to strengthen the presence of the Sacred Feminine in the universe. I hope that my writing does this. And I hope that you enjoy what it brings out in you.
