Unused Candle

Ignited spark
shortened wick
melting wax
time is spent
meditation
words unwritten
ink gone dry
unused quill
flame is snuffed
an author sleeps

the spareness of the poem appeals to me. it also left me wondering what more the poet could have written if he he hadn’t run out of ink. perhaps the world will have missed important ideas.
