In childhood you were but a myth
A phantom and a stranger born
To a mother that was not mine
The fabled princess trapped
Within the darkened lair
In time we met but I just seven
And you were younger still
We played together in the yard
With sticks and stones and mud
Then at once you were gone
a memory that would never fade
A decade passed and i wondered
where my sister had gone
Three thousand pains were yours
and I had shared the same
As luck would have it
A meeting was planned
Betwixt time and space we met
Again we went our separate ways
And again you lingered still
Off and on we met again
Time and space always between us
In my heart you always stayed
There came a time when we drifted
I thought us forever lost
The scars you wore forever opened
Each time you saw my name
Though my love for you was deep
My namesake had destroyed you
I cursed the day our father was born
But his life was far behind us
I wanted nothing more than to be
The brother of youthful memory.
