Path and Meditation

This is an old poem I am publishing here for archival purposes. It was written March 19, 2001. It is a simple meditation written almost like a prayer.

I see you fear, but I choose courage.
I see you anger, but I choose compassion.
I see you pride, but I choose humility.
I see you guilt, but I choose innocence.
I see you envy, but I choose kindness.
I see you sadness, but I choose inspiration.
I see you sloth, but I choose diligence.

I will seek emptiness to find answers within.
I will forsake falsehoods for truth.
I will disbelieve illusion to find my way.
I will tear down walls that hold me back.
I will feel with all my being.
I will become whole and I will atone.
I will overcome and I will stand up.

The shadows will not hide my Light
And I will become One.

  1. I appreciate the display of dualism in this! The beasts are never fully defeated, but always kept at bay through the active choice of man. Every exercise of choice-light over shadow-is an action, a demonstration of love. In this he gains strength, perseveres, endures: Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance. Let perseverance finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything.-James 1:2-4

An appropriate reblog for this morning as I reexamine how I react and act within the world.
