The Shape of Our Soul

This is an old poem I am publishing here for archival purposes. I do not remember the original date it was authored. This was written sometime between 1995 and 1997.

It touches sweetly to my ear
a sweet rosebud voice
gently caressing my thoughts
with tasteful love from
the deepest regions of
her immortal soul
Singing her song to a lost
fool known only as nothing
she fills my cup.
The touch, so soft, so warm,
I long, I need, I hold…
Her voice, again, sings
loudly yet softly upon
the winding vales of
my open crying heart.
We consume ourselves in the most gentle of
places inside ourselves.
We love and make love
knowing pleasure other
than pain and beauty
other than infatuation.
I cry, once, forever, as her
song continues to sound
within this head which knew
no love so tasteful,
so fulfilling, so romantic.
Her song cries out and I
reach out my hand, lovingly,
to caress that tear,
a diamond from the depths
of our eternal affinity.
Again, we consume, love, and
make love to the steady beat
of our one true heart.
Pain is subsided, hope remains,
love is forged, and she sings
on through the night, loving me
as I love her with one
whole heart forged from
flames of the most burning
passions within.
Love is made, a song is sung,
and nothing changes
the shape of the soul
only does it become filled
with the viscous stuff of our
most deeply seeded fears,
our most unfulfilled hopes,
our greatest dreams,
and our singular deestiny.
A song of victory is sung
upon the climax of our love,
the zenith of our mountain.
A whisper is heard from
her voice, still singing, a phrase
I repeat with all my heart and soul.
The song is sung together,
in unision, as one and only one.

  1. This is exquisite and beautiful. So much of your work is helping me to correct my course, where I was starting to stray into dangerous waters. This is one of many that are helping me to remember my own beliefs. Thank you for sharing this lovely poem!

  2. Reblogged this on Ninefold Evolution and commented:

This poem is two decades old and yet applies perfectly to the relationship I am in today.

  3. Faye says:

Your work does indeed point people who are searching in a direction to what is PURE, and BEAUTIFUL. The world is full of much that is dark and ugly. Thank you.
